Review of Eddie Murphy Raw (1987) by Rocknblues 8 — 12 Nov 2013
Great stand up performance. Outside George Carlin and I'm not the biggest fan of stand up comedy, but this one is full funny in your face bathroom humor that is still funny 25 years later. The best parts are Eddie Murphy making in fun of Michael Jackson and Billy Cosby... I do think it closed out a little weak. Mocking the way white people dance is funny, but predictable, and it's kind of a safety net when taking into account the material that came before it.
Still, it's one of the few times you get to see Eddie Murphy in his prime before he started playing in one bad film after another. And sadly he's fallen into the trap of playing in one safe family comedy after another. What a shame.
