Review of Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill (1999) by Rodolfo R — 15 Jun 2010

Ok, the new year's gone, the cat's in heat...(probably something to do with this damn GA weather), and work is beginning to pick up again, and I found place that serves both coffee and wine that isn't pretentious and stuck up.... what else could a twenty-something non-sport enthusiast man want in his life? Well besides female company.... which is a non-issue for this blog... and some winter weather (what is it with the south.... seesh.... do we even have season?)... what ... well... I need is a better movie season. Sadly.... I was holding on for hope... especially with Tim Burton's "Big Fish". Speaking merely stylisticly the movie was spot on. Given the subject matter excellent colour scheme, well used visual effects, and more than decently acted. But the pacing.... sigh.... In the movie the moderetly played son on more than one occasion refers to father as a blowhard, or a windbag... or something in that ballpark. He's spot on. The scenes with the elder protagonist rattle on like a poorly written Linklater film (for reference rent "Waking Life" and close your eyes). Yes, the man is dying (which by the way if you have cancer .... you don't look that healthy... silly make up artists) but if I'm willing to suspend my disbelief on his appearence I would more than happily fork over the extra bit of effort to believe the man could have snappier dialouge. Sigh... only 2 more monthes till Kill Bill vol. 2. Man's gotta be able to hold onto something. Ohh yeah... the Stone Roses rock my face off..
