Review of Ed Wood (1994) by David C — 17 Dec 2010
It is ironic that a movie talking about the man who is considered the worst director of all time can be this good.
It really is remarkble how can a man make movies so horrible and be a cult person. Tim Burton captured his spirit perfectly, showing us a man who admires Orson Welles so much he wants to be a director too. His movies are crap but he never gave up end that´s the lesson we should clear fom " Ed Wood". The acting is simply fantastic, with Johnny Depp in the lead and Martin Landau making a brilliant performance as Bela Lugosi. We also have some cameos like Bill Murray.
Even Sara Jessica Parker, which I don´t like acting, makes a pretty good job in this film. It was great to see through the backstage of the worst movies of all time. And I just adore the fact that Ed Wood is director but he as a creative vision so limited. You can actually watch scenes going terrible and he saying " cut"!
Works fantasticly great as a biopic because it flows naturally. You don´t see the life before the man.You see him making his movies and thats bery nice.
Ed Wood is amazing and it is a film you all must see, especially if you care about movies ora re planing to enter the bussiness. Shit happens but we should never never give up. Amazing acting visuals and story, it is definetly a great film and one of Tim Burton´s best.
