Within the mere intro of Ed Wood, I was fascinated with it's creative style. The film exceeded my predictions. Johhny Depp pulls off an excellent performance as infamous, unsuccessful yet optimistic young filmmaker Ed Wood and manages to capture the true heart of him which many people have overlooked due to his poor filmmaking choices.
Martin Landau's performance as Bela Lugosi is incredibly captivating and so successfully acted that it's a disbelief that it isn't in actuality the REAL Bela Lugosi. The makeup helped with that as well as his incredible acting.
Tim Burton's excellent style choice as well as the film's Cinematography, Makeup and it's atmosphere created by all of these elements ensures that Ed Wood talks about the difficulties of filmmaking with heart and that even though he was the worst, Edward D. Wood Jr. was the best of the worst. They even snuck some black humor in there.
