Review of Ed Wood (1994) by David B — 10 May 2013
Starting off with the strangest intro ever seen on film, The movie is historically based off one of the worst directors in movie history, Edward D. Wood Jr. who never realized his flaws and just got his movies made just for the sake of himself as a movie director.
He was a big fan of Dracula star Bela Lugosi and gave him his comebacks to three films which were Glen Or Glenda, Bride Of The Monster and Plan 9 From Outer Space before he died. These movies were what had started the chain of worst movies in cinema history.
Ed Wood was secretly a transvestite because his mum wanted a girl and therefore dressed him up in her clothes which gave him the idea for Glen Or Glenda. He then meets wrestler Tor Johnson and an actress named Vampira to star in Bride Of The Monster which was a huge failure and Plan 9 From Outer Space which grew a cult hit.
After his failure, Ed Wood meets his inspiration Orson Welles, the director of Citizen Kane who teaches him the lesson that grants Ed Wood the success for Plan 9 From Outer Space. This movie is an amazing biopic directed by the legendary Tim Burton who has explored his creativity even through the eyes of a historical biopic.
Johnny Depp was great as Ed Wood and the whole film is supposed to be watched from the lead hero's point of view and that's what makes this movie so great. Ed Wood gets a 10/10.
