Review of Ed Wood (1994) by Justin T — 08 Apr 2014
Some people love to make movies, some people just love to make movies. Ed Wood Jr is the latter of those cases as he's voted the worst director in history. Luckily this movie is good and a heart felt tribute to the 1950's drive in monster movies, Tim Burton must have grew up with.
Johnny Depp give a great performance as the crazy, tranvestite filmmaker who loves every shot and doesn't think about the quality of a movie, but only about making one. Martin Landau as Bela Lugosi is a very good performance.
And yes even the film universe knows Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse. The film is beautifully shot in black and white, and the score adds a touch of nostalgia to classic B movies. Overall well made movie and maybe Tim Burton's most personal.
