Ebirah; Horror Of The Deep was originally concieved as a third Japanese King Kong movie. Which explains the island setting, opponents simply being giant animals, and the interest in the token female. All of which were at that point uncommon to a Godzilla movie.
Also an intended drawpoint was that this would have been the second time ToHo pitted Kong against one of their "name" monsters; Mothra. Glad those plans fell thru, Godzilla rules. Big. Ass. FUN.
