Review of Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966) by Gus S — 20 May 2008
It's Godzilla with surf music! The radioactive lizard fights Ebirah, a good looking monster costume, with the aid of Mothra (superfluously added in.) Story doesn't allow for much model building destruction and has a slow start, but once it gets going it is just as fun as the others.
The script was originally written for King Kong, instead of Godzilla, in the title role and it shows in several scenes. Note: The American TV version was re-edited slightly from the Japanese film (Godzilla vs.
Ebirah) but the edits are not different enough to warrant two reviews.
