Review of Eating Raoul (1982) by Evan H — 26 Sep 2012
Mindless fun at it's best. At times it's a bit too zany or just straight up poorly done, however I can't say I wasn't satisfied after watching it. This movie does a great job of setting up and ending a story, you get a feel for all the characters and enjoy their screen time, though sometimes the movie feels a bit too dark, especially with like 5 attempted rape scenes, though supposed to be comedic come off as well... like a normal rape scene. Otherwise, the movie is full of great moments, from the different fetishes they display to the great ending, it's really hard to reject this movie especially since it only clocks it at 83 minutes (including credits).
Another thing that has to be mentioned though, is that the movie is low budget, but holy crap, there are some moments of just amateur filmmaking and editing, though the writing is top notch. It was worth mentioning since it is so noticeable. At least Paul Bartel is great throughout.
PROS: Crazy, funny sex comedy.
CONS: Too zany sometimes, poorly done at parts.
