Review of Eat Pray Love (2010) by Sheila L — 25 Apr 2011
Everything happens in threes. My husband could not get past the first 10 minutes of the film, where our lead stated she suddenly woke up and realized she didn't want to be married anymore (to the PERfect guy, by the way who GENuinely loves her.
.or so it all seems in the movie). So she ventures off to 3 different countries on a "soul-quest" and it becomes more like a "food quest" with the same thing happening -three times over.
It is highly indulgent, self-serving and the more Julia becomes enamored with other's trival problems she realizes she is a saint who is needed in the moment. There were certain moments I chuckled at and moments where I yelled at the screen, but more than anything I found myself in the kitchen trying to "outeat" Julia while my husband snored away.
And then I wanted to warn her of Javier's skecthy past in "No country For old men", but she didn't listen, so I just popped another olive and cheese square in my mouth and watched the credits roll.
