Review of Eat Pray Love (2010) by Clement O — 28 Mar 2011
You know, I can appreciate a chick flick that includes some material for the men. After all, Transformers has a love story angle in it, why can't Eat Pray Love have a few exploding cars. At any rate, this movie falls a bit flat.
The movie wants you to feel for Julia Roberts but it's next to impossible after she leaves her heart broken at the start of the film because she got (gasp!) bored. I mean I thought marriage was supposed to be more than a non stop globetrotting thrill ride but I guess Ms.
Roberts failed to get the memo. The author had to keep her childless or else she would've been a dead beat mom as well. And then in the end she falls in love with the international long haired sailor guy.
.. Surprise surprise. The ending was way too cliche. Personally I was hoping she would get back with her ex husband... But no points for marriage and fidelity in this one. If you want a true love story, go rent the Notebook.
