Review of Eat Pray Love (2010) by Ashlee C — 08 May 2011
Two things I found interesting about this movie: First, is Julia Roberts. She is showing her age (as is most women I found hot in High School), but she is still as charismatic and charming as ever. She has that star quality and acting ability that could easily carry a film, as she did with this one.
The other thing was the exotic locales where the story takes place, from Italy, to India, and finally to Bali. The places and culture were pretty interesting to watch on screen. And great sceneries also.
But I found a bit too much talking about their feelings, talking about their relationships, etc. A little too much of a chick flick for me.
Javier Bardem was also great in the film. I saw him on "No Country for Old Men", and his portrayal there and in this movie was poles apart. He really is one hell of an Actor, with chameleon-like ability to change characters, and be totally convincing in that character.
The movie is a bit long, almost two and a half hours, but interesting enough so you won't notice the time too much as it passes by. Some funny, humorous moments also, and some golden nuggets of inspiration and self-reflection.
Overall, highly entertaining, definitely worth it to watch.
