Review of Eat Pray Love (2010) by Juli R — 26 Aug 2011
This movie is WORSE than the book. The premise is that Liz Gilbert, an author, goes through a bad divorce and a bad fling, and decides to take off for a year to find herself. She goes to Italy (to eat), to India (to pray), and to Bali (for love).
Along the way, she discovers a lot of truisms that help her achieve Balance. The movie is very long, and all the parts don't add up to much except narcissistic navel-gazing. Julia Roberts is fine as the witty, intelligent, privileged writer.
But this is the kind of story that's more fun to live than to watch.
