Review of Eat Pray Love (2010) by Sara P — 12 Jul 2011
I have not read the book but am eager to. In terms of the film, I found myself not caring THAT much for Julia Roberts' character. I understand what she feels but for whatever reason I couldn't empathize with her.
Franco's character was a pain in the butt. What was his deal? Despite this, I really enjoyed the places she went to and the things she did there. Her friends in Italy, the girl in India, and the mother and daughter in Indonesia truly transported me to their land.
I quite liked the feeling I got at every shot of Liz Gilbert just traveling through the land especially the one where she's riding her bike and the music's playing in the background, just before she bumped into Felipe.
When Javier Bardem appeared was when I began to feel the charm. All in all it was more of an episode of the Travel channel for me with a bit of "soul searching.".
