Review of Eat Drink Man Woman (1994) by William H — 01 Feb 2011
I watched this on my iPhone during my lunch breaks at work and found myself really hungry during the cooking scenes. I know there's something about the difficulties of pursuing a career as a woman in Taiwan.
I also know there's a lot about preserving the family as the years go by. I also know that there's an analogy being made about how senior chef starts to lose his sense of taste as his starts getting older.
Yet somehow, I couldn't put it all together. It's also because I couldn't get the subtitles on and my mandarin sucks. Still, I believe it's a successful film.
