Review of Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex 'n' Drugs 'n' Rock 'n' Roll Generation Saved Hollywood (2003) by Ian R — 01 Jul 2017
This is one of my favourite documentaries as it explores something I truely love - American cinema of the 1960s, through to the late 1970s. Following the demise of the bloated studio system in the early 1960s, a new generation of young, hip film makers broke through with films that cost a fraction of the traditional Hollywood budgets, using approaches adopted from European new wave cinema, they gave a freshness that was lacking in cinema.
Ultimately, the new generation became the old guys. A fascinating documentary and an introduction to what I consider to be one of the most fruitful eras in cinema history.
