Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Laurent C — 14 Mar 2013
Easy rider symbolises the freedom of a new time for the film industry, but also a time when sex, drugs and rock n'roll were going to bring some huge changes to the american society. And it's exactly what is happening in the film, and you can see how people react to that freedom : they just don't like it so much, and can be very violent because of it.
But, this movie is also a new way of making movies at the end of the sixties : far from the old hollywood's way, this movie focuses its plot not on the story (even if there is one), but especially on the characters, and the dialogues.
And the result is brilliant. Easy rider, is a masterpiece. And I'm happy to have seen it a second time after more than 20 years, because it was a good surprise to see that it's even better than the memory I had of it.
