Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Joe A — 28 May 2010
Two drug dealing hippies take a cross country ride after a big score and encounter all types of Americana from the free spirited to the narrow minded. This is a true American classic that is so representative of the era in which it was made, that watching it today has an almost time machine like effect.
Simply directed by star Hopper, it not only portrays the free spiritedness of the hippie movement but, also the predudice and violence from those who saw it as a disrespect to the American way of life.
If anything, the film shows us how, ironically, we as Americans so easily forget that this country was founded on the ideal of freedom. Awesome soundtrack for those who love 60's era music.
