Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Shounak B — 04 Feb 2013
With Easy Rider, Hopper officially opened up a whole new and fresh era in American cinema. This character driven film is about two bikers riding to mardi gras after closing in a big coke deal. This film is very comfortable with the time and place it is set in and has now become one of its most famous representations, with its famous visuals and pop cultural relevant soundtrack.
Though the style is very much influenced by the style of the European films of the time, the cinematogpraphy, subject and landscape make this a very American film. Some aspects haven't dated very well, but Easy Rider's legacy lives on.
