The legendary film that was the first independent film to become a success, thus changing the way films were made in America. The quintessential biker road film stars Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper as the 2 bikers.
They wrote the screenplay and Hopper directed. Along the way they encounter a hippie commune that tries to survive without any money and immense danger in the American South from rednecks who seem to belong to the KKK.
Jack Nicholson, despite being in the film less than half an hour gives a fantastic performance and is the soul of the film. At the time, Jack was close to ending his career as an actor. The film's success and the rave reviews he received convinced him to remain an actor !
