Review of Eastern Promises (2007) by Robert H — 23 Aug 2010
Surprisingly sympathetic and sensitive despite its synopsis, Eastern Promises is a perfectly executed, low-key, Russian variation on The Godfather (in mood, not in plot). Don't expect anything spectacular, but it is a fine, enjoyable film with small emotional swells to offer, as long as you can stomach the graphic violence.
