Review of Eastern Promises (2007) by Sana R — 09 Dec 2014
This film may or may not be David Cronenberg's finest achievement as a director thus far. He directs this film with a clear appreciation for the psychology of the crime genre. This is the kind of subtle directorial detail that many filmmakers gloss over, but Cronenberg is just insightful enough to prop up and put on display.
If the Lord Of The Rings wasn't enough to cement Viggo Mortenson into cinematic history, this master class performance surely will. This is the kind of subdued but emotionally complex performance that you would expect from Mortenson, but add in screen time with the great Vincent Cassel and you're in for a crime film that mustn't be missed.
This is a masterpiece and I loved it! Absolutely incredible work!
