Review of East Side Story (2006) by Roxanne R — 26 Feb 2011
TERRIFIC!! Now I get a better picture of what East Los Angeles is like..its so ironic because within the same city just head towards West Hollywood and the residents are accepting of diverse lifestyles..Very entertaining movie and an eye opener about different cultures and trends in Los Angeles..The film is about the story of Diego (Renà (C) Alvarado), a young, closeted Latino, who helps his grandmother (Irene DeBarri) run the family restaurant while carrying on a relationship with equally closeted real estate agent Pablo (David Beron).
Diego has long felt trapped by the the conservative culture of East LA and plans to move away and open an upscale restaurant, hopefully with his lover. But Pablo views their relationship very differently - a point driven home when he begins dating Diego's Aunt Bianca. So Diego decides to sell the family restaurant and move to Arizona to open a restaurant there where he will be the chef. With the countdown to Diego's move, will he leave Los Angeles for good or will something happen that will change his destiny? You've got to watch it to find out but rest assured, its a lovely drama/romance that will bring a smile to your face...Recommended especially to Hispanic viewers!! Very good..:-).
