Having just read the Steinbeck book a couple of years ago, to complete what I would call his great writings (Of Mice and Men, Grapes of Wrath) and after watching the movie adaptation on DVD, I was very impressed by the performances , especially from the wonderful enigmatic James Dean in his first and in my opinion finest performance.
Paul Osborn?s take on this Cain and Abel story is a little truncated but a great script none the less. Kazan?s direction is amazing as usual.
