Review of East of Eden (1955) by Flora C — 26 May 2008
Anyone who bitches about this movie and it not being like the novel surely doesn't know film, let alone have any appreciation for it. This film is outstanding, with James Dean's performance being the magnificent centerpiece.
The book is a classic, but the film is a classic in it's own right. Kazan wanted to focus on only one generation of the Trask family, and what he did with it was very impressive.
