Review of East of Eden (1955) by Sanjida R — 26 Sep 2008
This movie is really fantastic. It vacillates between melodrama and "true drama," if you will. The score is pretty imposing, and there are moments when the acting is alternately too wooden and too expressive, but overall a great story told well.
Filming a personal drama in Panavision is a perfect choice for an adaptation of a Steinbeck novel, as well.
