Review of East of Eden (1955) by Christopher W — 25 Oct 2008
James Dean's film debut is almost as good as Rebel. His Cal Trask could easily be Jim Stark in an earlier decade. He outperforms every one of his cast mates including veteran Raymond Massey. His improvisation in the scene where he attempts to buy his father's love is the stuff movie dreams are made of.
