Review of East of Eden (1955) by Harry T — 29 Nov 2008
Thoroughly disappointing. Dean's acting makes me wonder if he was drunk the entire time. And what a dismal adaptation. Kazan removes the two most important characters of the masterful book (Wong and Samuel) and reduces the complex themes to the equivalence of Harlequin Romance.
One of the worst I've seen in years. I give it one star for the sets and camera shots, which were impressive at times.
