Review of East of Eden (1955) by Matthew P — 11 Jan 2009
This is very different from Steinbeck's massive epic. I'll be honest, I'd much would've preferred to have a 2 1/2 to 3 hour version of the film that traces Adam's life from beginning to end rather than this abridged version that feels somewhat incomplete without the other 2/3 of the book.
But it's James Dean's helluva performance that makes this picture a great one.
