Review of East of Eden (1955) by Beverley — 16 Sep 2009
Incredible performances by the whole cast and fantastic cinematography highlight this amazing film from one of the greatest directors. It has a great script that tells a Cane & Abel type of story and really shows off the talents of James Dean and the rest of the cast especially Jo Van Fleet who plays Cal's mother in her well deserved Oscar performance.
But besides the other actors' performances and the great cinematography it is James Dean's performance and Kazan's fantastic direction that makes this movie one of the greatest films of all time.
If only he had lived long enough he might have had the kind of acting career as Brando.
