Review of East of Eden (1955) by Toni H — 17 Mar 2010
From the first minute to the last, I was absolutely captivated by this film. James Dean gives one of the best performances in movie history as a troubled youngster living in his father's shadow. The supporting cast as well did an amazing job, particularly Julie Harris as the woman who goes from fearing Cal to understanding him better than anyone.
I love movies about troubled youngsters, and this one definitely ranks up there as one of the best.
