James Dean only made three films, other than some bit parts. If you could only pick one to watch, I'd pick "East of Eden". While "Rebel" might be what he's most known for, I think Elia Kazan's "East of Eden" is a superior film.
"Giant" is definitely the inferior of the three, although he does have some great moments in the film. Great supporting cast also. Julie Harris, Jo Van Fleet & Raymond Massey. Still holds up today.
"Rebel" seems a tad dated to me.
