Review of Earthwork (2011) by Matthew L — 23 Apr 2011
True story of a Kansas farmer commissioned to create a scrawling natural artwork in NYC has a certain earthy charm. John Hawkes is in fine form in the lead role, even though some supporting performances feel a bit stiff.
It runs a bit on the schmaltzy side, but it's obviously a labor of love, and that goes a long way. Still, can't help but feel that this would have made a better documentary than a feature film.
