The kids are alright. If derivative in this Spielberg ripoff? homage? Hmm, probably a little of both. Echo is a lovable alien who wants to go home and with help from some children...ok...it's mostly a ripoff.
But not as bad as you might think. Or maybe I'm easily amused. Hard to say.
