Review of Earth to Echo (2014) by Brett H — 10 Oct 2014
Earth To Echo is a harmless, family film that is perfect for young teens, but doesn't have much for the adults. The story is VERY reminiscent of The Goonies, Super 8, and of course E.T, which hurts the film because the only trick it has left is the over-used found-footage gimmick.
The kids are all fine in their roles, and convincingly act like childhood friends, but as usual, the story has to throw a romantic interest in and you just didn't need it! The actual robot/alien, Echo, is adorable, but with the film revolving around him, you don't see much of him and therefore it's hard to get attached.
It's a bit better than average, and would be awesome for younger viewers who maybe aren't familiar with it's predecessors, but for me, it's just a blip on the radar.
