To study war among it's own people... There is something hypnotising about Deepa Mehta's filmmaking... she draws you in and pulls you along like you belong there. You see the sadness, the beauty the horror of war and love.
... all through the eyes of a little girl. She focusses on a group of friends of various religious backgrounds (Sikh, Muslim and Hindu) and you watch it unfold as India separates and goes to war. She tears out your heart in this.
