Review of Earth (1999) by Tom M — 26 May 2008
Well, I wanted to learn a bit more about the 1947 partition of India, and this was a good movie from both an historical and a personal standpoint. The movie moves at a good pace, and the camera work is excellent.
This is one of the trilogy films from Deepa Meehta: "Fire", "Earth", and "Water", and each is worth seeing. One feature of her films is that she uses some of the same actors and actresses in different and challenging roles. In the case of Earth (1947 Earth), I saw Nandita Das from her movie "Fire" and Rahul Khanna from her movie "Bollywood Hollywood.".
