Review of Early Man (2018) by Tvjerry — 23 Feb 2018
The Aardman gang is known for their idiosyncratic stop-motion design and underplayed comic style. This latest pits cavemen against people from the "civilized" bronze age in a match of football (soccer…it's a British film, after all).
The expected deadpan gags are plentiful, but few of them land. The distinctive comic energy and plucky characters keep things moving, but it's more often just silly than genuinely funny.
