Review of Eagle vs Shark (2007) by Jon O — 10 Oct 2008
When Eagle Vs. Shark's protagonist disccusses the nature of life late in the movie, the scene represents the entire film in microcosm. She says something to the effect of "Life is a bunch of hard bits with lovely bits in between.
" That's the movie. There are moments of hilarity, which makes sense since the movie is basically Flight of the Conchords mixed with Napoleon Dynamite, but the dark tone and the familiar feelings the movie evokes prevent the movie from rising to the level of the other movies it's reminiscent of.
Loren Horsley is adorable as the lead, and her performance alone makes the movie worth seeing, but it should be watched with tempered expectations.
