Awkward yet touching, the film invites numerous comparisons to Napoleon Dynamite in both humor and style. But the darker story arc makes for a comedic dilemma--we're supposed to laugh at these characters while also feeling pity for them.
Laughter and pity don't mix well, but Loren Horsley's understated performance makes up for it.
