Review of Eagle vs Shark (2007) by Hrvoje R — 16 Mar 2009
Unless you're willing to actually look beyond the surface of the jokes, all you'll see is New Zealand's Napoleon Dynamite. It is true that this movie has a similar aesthetic, and that Jarrod's and Napoleon's characters share similar quirks.
Still, this movie offers so much more depth, especially in the story and in Lily, the focal character of the story. It's a great story and a great character study, but it isn't perfect. Some of the best moments towards the middle and end seemed rushed, and I wished they would have spent more time with Lily's darker side.
Also, I'm not sure the animations added anything but distraction to the movie. Overall, it's a fun 88 minutes.
