Deadpan Kiwi quirkiness that creates quite a touching underdog romance through a combination of strong performances and laconic direction (odd animated interludes notwithstanding.) Thereâ??s probably a ton of indie films that are very similar - hell, there were about 3 more advertised on the coming attractions - but this is as good as any and would make an excellent double bill with Napoleon Dynamite (not to mention offering a kind of movie methadone for anyone suffering from Conchords withdrawal).
