Review of Eagle vs Shark (2007) by Johnny T — 03 Mar 2011
Daft, sweet, awkward and amusingly rude. A sweet, touching and very funny film. The genius of this film is the way it keeps us laughing at the eccentricities while also challenging us to find a positive way to move forward with our lives. The strength of Eagle vs Shark lies in its unconventional story with unconventional leads. Romantic comedy about two lonely people who find each other while orbiting on the outer fringes of society reminded me of 'Napoleon Dynamite.' There are hilariously awkward moments making it a cut above most romantic-comedies. A quirky romantic comedy that is surely worth a look. This is a sweet-natured, extremely funny romcom that marks Waititi out as a talent to watch. Highly recommended.
VERDICT: "Full Price" - My second highest rating (Positive to Mixed reaction). This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD. It is not perfect, but it is definitely excellent.
