This movie would be in the same vane as "The Net" (that probably really dates me) and "Enemy of the State" where technology has invaded and removed any sense of personal privacy. Without giving it away this movie promotes a slightly different approach to who is exactly behind the plot that takes place in this movie. If taken as a pure entertainment movie it achieves a certain level of success. By no means was I wowed but sufficiently entertained.

One thing that was interesting about this movie was the amount of "B" level actors that give very decent performances (within the roles given). It was especially interesting (to me) to see Michael Chiklis in a movie role outside of Fantastic Four as "The Thing". He has proven himself on the TV format and maybe this will a door into him showing his quality on the film format.

In terms of the two main characters LaBeouf shows his ability to hold his own in an action role and this would be a sort of transition role for him from smart talking-quick witted teenager into a sort of an older, experienced some life (with that sort of same air of his previous roles). I think this may open him to more mature characters and not stuck playing the "high school kid". In terms of Monaghan she definitely performed well with the character she had to work with and show the glimmer of immense promise that she has shown in previous movies. Also doesn't hurt that I have a celebrity crush on her.
