Review of Eagle Eye (2008) by Peter N — 30 Aug 2012
I respect Shia LeBeouf as an actor, and I feel like he does everything he can with the roles he is given. However, it's not enough to prevent many of the films he stars in from being mediocre at best.
Calling Eagle Eye mediocre is pushing it. The whole things seems like one big cliche thriller that has been rehashed way too many times to bring anything original to the table. Similar films such as Cellular share much of the same DNA, but they manage to entertain with the right mix of action, suspense, humor, and characterization.
Eagle Eye doesn't really seem like it knows where it's going until it's too late, and when the truth is unveiled and the audience knows why everything has happened the way it has, there is no longer any reason to care.
