Review of Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (2011) by Jillian L — 07 Jan 2012
Fun premise. Poorly executed. It's also all very formulaic. Guy is retired from job, one case brings him back, the completely useless lame joke cracking sidekick, the beautiful girl and him start kissing out of nowhere for no reason.
Completely predictable. Brandon Routh is listless, it's like he's not even trying. And the attempt at the gruff Christian Bale Batman voice at the beginning was laughable. One of the most disappointing aspects was the makeup.
The special effects makeup was not up to par with today's other monster/paranormal movies and TV shows, and it was all things we had seen before. I don't know, maybe they were trying to be self-aware, poking fun at monster movies, but if so, the attempt fell flat.
Taye Diggs is the only good thing about this movie, but even he can't save this train wreck. Especially when he walks around a pillar and comes out the other side as a "true" vampire. I laughed out loud.
So, summary, skip this one.
