Review of Dylan Dog: Dead of Night (2011) by Linda D — 24 Oct 2012
A movie afflicted with "I Don't Know What I Want To Be" syndrome. It's not good enough to be taken seriously and it's nowhere near funny enough to be horror/comedy. However, there are two - count 'em - two laugh-out-loud moments. Sadly, the first doesn't even appear until over an hour into the movie. The token funny guy certainly has plenty of screen time in which to ply his craft. I wish they'd have given him more to work with, 'cause when he's funny, he is FUNNY.
One of the movie's biggest flaws is the eponymous character who is as flat as week-old ginger ale. As a result, I didn't buy into his character at any point in the story.
Unless you just want to kill some time with a movie that's a kind of lazy Saturday afternoon, have it on the background thing, I'd say keep looking for something else more worth your time. And don't get me wrong, I've no qualms with that kind of movie. But it's definitely not worth writing home about, or probably ever bothering to watch again.
