Review of Duplicity (2009) by Raul E — 19 Dec 2009
Duplicity...
I saw the premise.. and I saw the trailers and I though these will be an excellent movie..But it wasn't..
Although Tony Gilroy uses sophisticated and innovating techniques like the split-screen and the point of view from the same plane form different angles, he really plays with the viewer because the narrative structure and the tons of flashbacks, and the numerous twist make us feel like we don't really know what's happening. And I actually enjoy this!.
Clive Owen and Julia Roberts make an excellent couple they really work well together..but in the middle of the movie I just stop my mind and said to me "Do we rent the right movie?, Because I felt I was watching some Ocean's movie".. B.
But no it was really duplicity...It's just that I've had expected so much more from the movie.. that when you compared them with other Thriller/Action/Spy/Comedy movies you realize that you have seen all!.. And that's not bad because these means that every body has seen Steven Sodeberg and Tony Gilroy movies!..
Duplicity it's a mixture of Gilroy ideas with a taste of Sodeberg's 'Oceans'...or not?...Which way you believe? I don't know the truth!
