Review of Duplicity (2009) by Geoffrey T — 11 Apr 2012
Really, really almost freakishly smart and well-crafted. Tony Gilroy has found the kind of film he is good at making and he seems to be just cranking them out. They're fast-paced, espionage thrillers with just enough wit to balance the subject matter.
The only issue is that his films are cerebral almost to a fault. I think he should delve into emotion a little bit, knowing that a great film is made in the fusion of logic and emotion. So I hope he branches out more, but for the moment, no one does this type of film better than him.
