Review of Dunston Checks In (1996) by Ghksagnnfs G — 17 Jun 2006
Quite simply the best film of all time............................................................... Dunston puts in a sublime performance playing against type. Every nuanced grin and subtle arm flailing drag you deeper and deeper into the psychosis of one of cinemas most complex and compelling characters. From the off this film grabs you dramatically, emotionally, and physically! and never lets go. I litterally cried my mouth off and laughed untill my arm ached, this film is fireing on all cylinders. Kramer from seinfeld puts in the best non-simian performance on celluloid to date, followed closely by a child who is almost the same height as Dunston!
This films perfect balance makes me ache for the tragically unfinished dunston helmed 'planet of the apes' remake even more. It boasts a surpising amount of pathos for such a high concept film as well as cinema's most daring sex scene. I could go on and on, if you haven't seen this you haven't seen epic. Watch it and you will know the rules just changed.
........................................................
This is it, the point at which cinema peaked.
